How to SELL & MAKE Money:

1.

Register to Consign

Got kids stuff you want to sell?  Sign up NOW for your FREE JBF East Texas/Tyler account. Simple and easy online tracking system to sell your items! You can choose to sell and volunteer to shop EVEN earlier.

2.

Collect, Prep, and Tag

Gather and prep your items (using our handy guidelines) and enter your information to create your tag using our free online tagging system. We even have "mom short" (less than 3 min) tagging videos to help you get started too!

3.

Drop Off!

Bring your tagged items to the First Christian Family Life Center Gymnasium, 4202 S. Broadway, Tyler on August 1 between 2pm - 8pm, or August 2nd,  between 8:30am-10am, (see details below), place them on the floor, and we do the rest.

At the end of the sale we will have your unsold items, sorted for easy and quick pick up, or you can donate them to our charity partner, St. Vincent de Paul!  Be sure to  watch your sales during the event online!

Basics to Selling your Items:

Earn up to 75% on your sold items!

JBF East Texas/Tyler Sellers (Consignors) earn 65% on all sold items, less a $10.00 Seller fee taken out of your final check! There is no upfront cost to you!

Dont have time to tag your own items, we can do it for you!  Contact Tara Berry at taraberry@jbfsale.com and ask us about our VIP Valet Tagging and  we can send you the details!

If you are able to help during (or before) the sale for at least 4 hours you will earn 70%. You can even choose a barter activity to earn your volunteer %. Seller fee is waived for anyone who volunteers as a team leader. 

All volunteers SHOP EARLY!  You will get a pass for you and one guest to shop early before we open to the general public!

Drop Off

Consignor Drop Off:

August 1st - 2pm-8pm

August 2nd - 8:30am-10am 

  • Having your items sorted by size/gender will help when placing them on the sales floor.
  • Bring in one tag, complete your seller agreement, and grab a rolling rack to take out and get your items ready!  Place your items on the sales floor in designated areas and you are done!
  • You will get your pre sale shopping pass emailed to you after drop off is completed! 

What to Expect at Drop off:

  • Bring your items tagged, prepped (see info below), and sorted by type & size.
  • Bring your signed Consignor Agreement, Car Seat Checklist, and Crib Waiver (if applicable).

Express Drop Off:  If you’re in a hurry, we can handle drop off for you! We will simply help you unload your vehicle, drop off your waiver and we do the rest. The cost for this service is $10 per 100 items, cash due at drop off.  **Limited slots available**. Schedule your Express Drop Off appointment here.

Pick Up

Pick up for all Consignors:

August 4th - 7pm-8pm

  • Bring a photo ID
  • Your items are already sorted and grouped for you to pick up and take home with you! QUICK, FAST AND EASY!
  • All donated items are eligible for a tax donation letter. If you need one, let us know!
     

Immediately at 8:01pm, on Sunday, all remaining items are donated to St. Vincent de Paul ICC Charity Partner. Sorry, no exceptions.

Where do I START?

As a first time Seller, I understand how it can seem so overwhelming! STOP, take a breath, get a beverage and here is how I get started...

**Please note for our August Sale:
​We will accept all season clothing; Spring/Summer/Winter/Fall

​For our November Sale:  Winter, Holiday, Toy & Baby Gear in November we will accept only winter type/Holiday clothing or Gift (NEW with Tags on)giving clothing.   Winter clothing must be 3/4 or full long sleeve unless dress clothes items). 
 

Jeans/Pants and uniforms are accepted year round.**

1. Take a walk through the house with a laundry basket, or tub and start clearing through one area of toys that you know your children have not played with.

2. Get your items ready

  • Computer or Smart Phone
  • Card Stock (you can get at walmart/Target/office depot)
  • Printer
  • Tape
  • Safety Pins
  • Hangers

3. Pick 9 items, yes 9, because as you enter them and print tags, 9 tags print to a page...(save on card stock)

4. Required fields when entering a tag is: description & price.

5. Decide if you want your item donated or you will pick up.

6. Print your tags, attach them to your item and place them in your tote/box or bag for the sale. Group like items together for easier drop off!

**Tagging videos (less than 2 minutes) help you get started!**

I usually start with toys and my bigger items as they sell fast and furious, and are the fasted to tag, then I start on my clothing. (ESPECIALLY AT THIS SALE!)Watch our videos to help get you started.

Bags & Baby Carriers & Breast Pumps

Diaper bags, infant carriers, backpacks, and purses are great consignment items. Please inspect all items carefully to make sure items have not been recalled, stained, damaged or are missing pieces. We are only accepting breast pumps that are hospital grade. We accept all accessories.

Package:
Please zip-tie items to an adult-size hanger. If you would like to place high-priced items (over $50) in our High Value locked Cabinet, please see a volunteer at Drop Off for assistance.

Price:
Price 50% - 75% off retail. Items in great condition tend to sell very well.

Tag:
Hole-punch JBF tag and attach it to item with ribbon or string. If item contains multiple pieces, be sure all pieces are included and list number of items on JBF tag description. You can put them in a zip lock bag and tape together, to help ensure they all stay together.

Bedding, Blankets & Textiles

Bedding sizes accepted are bassinet through twin only. Please be selective when selling bedding, blankets, receiving blankets, burp cloths, and towels. New and barely used items sell best. Check carefully for stains; shoppers get very disappointed if they find a stain in a bundled blanket once they get home.

Package: 
Put bedding/crib/bedroom sets together in original packaging or in giant clear plastic bags. Arrange bedding sets inside bag so that shoppers can see all of the items as well as the design/pattern. Sometimes taking a picture and attaching it can help! Secure the bag so that items do not get separated. Bundle blankets, cloths, and towels with ribbon or string like a package (be sure multiple pieces cannot be separated).  Tagging video to help you get started!

Price:

Price to sell! Shoppers are less likely to purchase these items used, so prices have to be low. Try to price 75% - 90% off retail.

Tag: 
If bedding is in a plastic bag, attach tag securely with packaging tape to the inside of the bag and tape the bag shut (bedding set prices vary widely and securing tags inside bags prevents tag switching). If bedding/blankets are bundled with string, attach tag directly to blanket and tuck it under the ribbon/string so that it does not easily get pulled off when shifting around during the sale or tape to outside of plastic bag.  You can also fold a piece of tape over the top and then hole punch at the top of it to help secure.

Books, Games, DVDs, Arts & Crafts

Books, book sets, board games, puzzles, video games, video game systems, scrapbook, arts & crafts sets are great items for resale. Please only bring kids’, parenting, homeschooling, pregnancy and child rearing books. Games and puzzles must have all pieces. (No "adult" content please, or R rated). G/PG/PG13 acceptable. Check items to ensure they are in great condition. Books with lots of mark ups in them will be removed. NO VHS accepted.

Package: 
Use clear, self-seal bags or clear cling wrap (saran wrap) to hold multiple items together; Tie sets of books together with ribbon/string. Be sure that parts/games to video game systems (such as Vtech) cannot be separated or switched out at the sale. Video games can be in a locked cabinet to prevent theft.

Price: 
Prices can range from $.50 to $50 in this category, depending on the item. Price to sell, especially for books & DVDs, as there are always lots to choose from at the sale. If you would like a high-priced item placed in the High Value Cabinet, please see a volunteer during Drop Off.

Tag: 
When tagging books, please attach your tag to the book with painters or masking type tape, that can be removed without damaging the item.  Tape tag to the outside cover of glossy books and to the inside cover of books that will easily tear when removing the tag. Painters tape seems to work well. Please do not use double sided tape. Hole-punch JBF tag and tie to sets. (link to tagging video)

Clothing

We sell children's clothing Preemie through Juniors size 20 (limit girl's junior size items, Abercrombie, Justice, Hollister, Roxy, American Eagle, Nike, Volcom, Burton preferred) We only accept children & MATERNITY clothing.  We do not accept clothing for adults that is "bigger sizes" for maternity. It must be maternity brands. Our Spring Sale is only Spring/Summer items.  We will take light jackets, and jeans, but no long sleeve or fleece clothing will be accepted.  Be picky, because we are!  Look at your clothing items as if you were going to purchase them. No stained, ripped or torn items will be accepted.  Any items that look like "mom's" clothes will be rejected. Please freshly clean your clothing items. Replace missing buttons, sew loose hems and seams, and clip loose threads. Please button all buttons, snap all snaps, zip all zippers before you arrive at drop off. This will ensure that there are no defects in the clothing. The newer the item looks (and the better it smells), the better it will sell.

Package & Hang: 
Hangers - Please hang clothes so the hanger hook points to the left (like a question mark). Clothing that falls off the hanger onto the floor does not sell well. Old Navy and many outlet stores are great places to get free hangers (they throw away hangers daily!) and WalMart & Target sell child-size plastic tube hangers at a great price. Clothing Sets - Sets tend to sell better (under size 6) so match things up if you can. All garments should be hung with the hanger hook pointing left (hanger should resemble a question mark when looking at the front of item). Safety pin or use a tagging gun to attach clothing sets securely with bottom garment hung on the backside of the shirt, so both pieces can be viewed without separating them.

Pants/Shorts - Pant-clip hangers are great but if you use a standard hanger, simply use safety pins to attach pants to the top part of the hanger so the garment will not slide. Onesies should be hung up, (sell best grouped together).  Socks, tights, hats and infant mittens are best sold in a clear zip-lock bag (you may group multiple items in one bag). Please be sure to label your tag well so that customers know what is included in bag. Taping the top of the bag closed helps as well to secure your items.

Price: 
Hanging Clothing - We recommed to put outfits/set together to price for at least $3.00; Start at $3 for basic, generic brand 0-24mo outfit. Add $1 each for larger size, name brand, formal, and heavy/winter. Non-hanging Clothing - Put sets together to price for at least $2.00, but okay to price for less (i.e., 6 pair of socks for $1.50).

Tag:
Clothing on Hangers - Attach tag with tagging gun or safety pin to the label of shirt or upper right front of pants. Insert the gun in a label or inside seam NOT through part of the clothing (to avoid making a hole or tear in the clothing). Also, pull on the tag to make sure it is properly secured and will not come off easily. Please make sure consignor tags are pulled out of the clothing so they are easily visible to the customers. 

Non-Hanging Clothing - Please use tagging gun or safety pins to attach tags to socks, tights, infant mittens, and accessories. Be sure to also attach multiple pieces together. If you have a large amount of socks, for example, place them in a zip loc bag and tape the tag on the bag. Then put these items into clear zip-lock bags.  (link to tagging video)

Furniture & Equipment

Exersaucers, swings, high chairs, changing tables, cribs (Manufactured AFTER June 28, 2011; please bring Crib Waiver for all cribs), strollers, bath seats, baby walkers, car seats & car seat accessories must be checked for safety recalls, must have all parts, and be in good condition. Children's furniture - beds (toddler, twin), bunk beds, desks, side tables, dressers, etc. Household furniture - please see Mommy Mart information below.

Package:  If item has multiple pieces use packaging tape, zip-ties, or string to keep items attached together. If wooden furniture has loose parts, use clear plastic wrap to secure item. All furniture and equipment must be assembled during the sale. Batteries must be included in all items requring it, if applicable. If an item is found without batteries, consignor will receive a battery charge on their final check. Please bring a Car Seat Checklist for all car seats, booster seats, and car seat base or infant carrier.

Price: 
Price 50% - 75% off retail. Items in great condition tend to sell very well.

Tag: 
Attach JBF tag directly to item with clear packaging tape or hole-punch JBF tag and tie it to item.

Infant Items

Nursing covers & pillows, feeding items, monitors, safety items, diapering & toileting items, rattles, and more. Please check for safety recalls on all items that you consign.

Package: 
If item has multiple pieces, use packaging tape, tagging gun, safety pins or clear self-seal bags to keep items attached together and clearly visible to shoppers. Batteries must be included, if applicable.

Price: 
Price 50% - 75% off retail. Items in great condition tend to sell very well.

Tag: 
Attach JBF tag directly to item or clear self-seal bag with clear packaging tape or hole-punch JBF tag and tie it to item.

Mommy Mart & Seasonal Items

Mommy Mart is the special area we will have set aside for you to bring your furniture items (only) from the rest of your house - not just your kids' rooms!  This area is good for things for household items that are new too.  Limit this area as this isn't the garage sale stuff!

 

To keep our reputation for having "only the best", we ask that you be very selective and only bring your best items to consign. We also recommend this to be household items that are new with tags still on or new in box items. Household items that other families/children will use (no knick knacks please). You may consign storage solutions (baskets, bin, shelving), furniture, decor (lamps, wall hangings, no antiques), and kitchen items (small appliances, utensils, etc.). When in doubt, please reach out to us. This is not a high selling area, so be sure to limit to the only the best items, not "garage sale junk".

Package: 
If selling multiple pieces together, be sure that all pieces are secured together and have tags that say 1 of 3 or 2 of 3 on the tag 

Price: 
Price to sell! These items are not the primary reason shoppers come to JBF, so keep the price low! Consider donating these items.

Tag: 
Secure the tag to the item to ensure that the tag does not fall off during the sale and so that item is not damaged when the tag is removed after purchase.

Mutliple Piece Tagging Instructions

If you have a three piece set, be sure to put a tag on EACH piece. Fill out the first tag as normal but include "1 of X", where X is the number of pieces. On all of the other tags, put "2 of X", "3 of X", etc. and the same description as tag #1. Put the price on item "1 of X"...all other prices will say $0.00. This will flag us to know that there are multiple pieces for the set.

DO NOT write the PRICE on any tag except the first when you are selling multiple pieces for one price. 

Toys

Ride-on toys, block sets, dolls, remote control cars, outdoor toys, learning toys, and more. All toys must be checked for safety recalls before consigning. Clean all toys and baby equipment thoroughly. Magic Eraser does incredible things! Please test to make sure that toys and equipment are working properly. Battery operated toys must include working batteries (these can be purchased inexpensively at local discount stores such as dollar tree or dollar general).

Package: 
Keeping tags and multiple items attached is essential for your items to sell. Bag all small parts belonging to toys/equipment in self-seal bags and tape the bag shut with clear packing tape. Fasten the bag securely to the item with ribbon, tape, or zip ties. Items must include ALL working parts. Great ideas here!

Price: 
Price 50% - 90% off retail.

Tag: 
Attach JBF tag directly to item with clear packaging tape or hole-punch JBF tag and tie it to item.

Duplicate Items

If you have multiple items of the same thing, for example you have 5 packages of wipes, there is no need to enter it 5 times!  When you enter the item and price, tab over to the far right side and under quantity, enter the amount up to 20!  It will generate in the computer 20 tags, each with different barcodes, so you can track each one as it sales!  Each of our tags has its own identifying number so we don't have duplicate tags in our system.

Valet Tagging

For the busy families that want to sell their items but don't have time, we have the option for valet tagging! We will tag your items, take them to the sale and you earn 50% on all sold items plus earn a pre-sale shopping pass for consignors and a guest!  Consignor fee is 15.00, no upfront cost, it comes out of your final check!
